Medical Peeling

Medical-grade skin peels, also known as chemical peels, are cosmetic treatments performed to improve and smooth the texture of the skin. They involve the application of a chemical solution to the skin, which causes the dead skin to slough off and eventually peel off. The regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. Chemical peels are used to treat various skin conditions, including acne scars, aging skin, sun damage, melasma, and others.

Different types of chemical peels are available at Dr Kay Clinic, which vary based on their specific ingredients and their strength:

  • Superficial Peels: These peels use mild acids like alpha-hydroxy acid to gently exfoliate with no down time. They only penetrate the outer layer of skin, providing a light exfoliation and are ideal for mild skin discoloration and rough skin.
  • Medium Peels: These involve trichloroacetic or glycolic acid to reach the middle and outer layers of skin. They are more effective for treating wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven skin tone.
  • Deep Peels: These peels fully penetrate the middle layer of skin to remove damaged skin cells. They often use phenol or trichloroacetic acid and can address more severe issues like deeper wrinkles and scars. Deep peels require the most recovery time and can have more significant side effects.
