Profhilo FAQs

Our Consultant Plastic surgeons and liposuction doctors will always advise you on the best liposuction option for your ideal body shape and needs.

Fillers can be used all over the face to treat a variety of areas. In the upper face, fillers can be used in the tear trough, or the deep groove and dark circle under the eye to restore volume and reduce the look of dark circles and a tired appearance. Volume is often added to the cheeks and cheekbones with filler to improve the appearance of lower wrinkles and restore the youthful cheek appearance.

Dermal fillers can also be placed in the thin and deeper wrinkles of the lower face and around the mouth and jowls. These can create more fullness and reduce the appearance of sagging and aging sing in this location.

Some patients still have a lot of youthful volume but use dermal fillers to enhance certain features. The most common area I treat with volume is the lips. A variety of different fillers can be used to give a range of results from a very subtle restoration to and more pronounced "Kyle Jenner" type look.

Fillers are also being used for liquid rhinoplasty, a noninvasive technique used to improve the appearance and harmony of the nose with the facial anatomy. Deep fillers can be used to contour the face, creating a more defined jawline, chin or cheekbone to provide more structure and improve the shape of the face.

Noninvasive procedures such as fillers are attractive because they are quick and have minimal downtime. Your entire visit will take place in under an hour. Following your injections, I usually recommend that patients avoid exercise for 24 hours and remain upright for the remainder of the day. No naps or downward dogs!

The other perk to fillers is that results are immediate. Yes, you can peek in a mirror after your procedure and see instant results! Depending on the type and location of your filler, you may experience some discomfort during or after the injections, bruising and swelling. I advise my patients not to schedule their procedure before a big social event just in case they have bruising after their injections.

Tumescent liposuction safely removes fat pockets from almost any part of your body, including, but not limited to:

Double Chin

Love handles

Upper back

Hips & waist

Inner & outer thighs

Arms (Bingo Wings)

Male Breasts (Gynaecomastia)

While there may be varying classification of body fat, it is easiest to consider their anatomic location as subcutaneous & visceral.

Subcutaneous fat is located just under the skin which accounts for approximately 90% of overall body fat. Liposuction is the treatment of choice for removal of this type of fat.

Visceral fat is found around internal organs, like bowels. This is the type of fat that can NOT be removed by liposuction and its reduction needs a balanced diet and regular exercise.

+ - What is Hyaluronic Acid?

The development of “Tumescent Formula” by Professor Jeffrey Klein revolutionised the world of liposuction. It actually eliminated the need for general anaesthesia which poses real risks to our patients health. Liposuction under local anesthesia is very desirable. It has a lower risk of complications in comparison with conventional liposuction under general anesthesia as well as a much easier and faster post-procedure recovery.

+ - What do I look like after the treatment?

Liposuction used to be a high risk major operation when performed under general anaesthesia. After development of “Tumescent Formula” and new liposuction technologies, it revolutionised the safety profile of liposuction as it is entirely done under local anaesthesia.

+ - Is Profhilo safe?

There are several different technologies by which liposuction can be performed:

Laser-Assisted Liposuction (LAL)

Water Assisted Liposuction (WAL) or BodyJet

Ultrasound Assisted Liposuction (UAL) or Vaser

Power Assisted Liposuction (PAL)

Radio-frequency Assisted Liposuction (RFAL)

Suction Assisted Liposuction (SAL)

The combination of PAL+SAL possess the highest safety profile. (Ref: Textbook of Liposuction – Shiffman M., Di Giuseppe A.); therefore, we NEVER advise any other methods like Vaser, Laser, BodyJet, etc which can breach the patient safety and cause serious complications. As a liposuction-dedicated clinic, we ONLY provide the combination of PAL+SAL to keep your safety our top priority.

+ - Is Profhilo a dermal filler?

The most popular form of liposuction is tumescent liposuction (under local anaesthesia) which is more effective, safer and less pain after the surgery than traditional liposuction (under general anaesthesia), and has a quicker recovery time.
